Recent research has shown that judging learners (as good, bad, intelligent, unwilling, etc.) and then adapting our teaching and materials to those judgements does not help them learn more effectively.
Instead of labelling our students, the real challenge is to recognise where each one is on their learning journey. They are more likely to succeed if we can show them that, by working smart, they can achieve goals they never thought possible.
Il webinar è tenuto in inglese.
PROGRAMMA
Webinar 1
In the first part of the webinar, we will discuss the findings of various studies on differentiated teaching, explore the teacher attitudes needed to implement them effectively, and consider the implications of differentiation for content, process, and product.
Webinar 2
In the second part of the webinar, we will examine common learning difficulties in listening, reading, speaking and writing, as well as vocabulary and grammar. We will explore a range of practical teaching strategies that support students who need more help with language and skills development, alongside techniques that offer additional challenges to more advanced learners.
We will also look at classroom management strategies for working effectively in a mixed-ability classroom.
Finally, we will examine two key strategies that learners can use to prepare more effectively for exams: retrieval practice and spaced repetition. Both have been empirically shown to lead to significantly better test results.
Webinar 1 - Durata: 2 ore
